Privacy policy

Updated October 30, 2026

MyCNAPal is operated by Francisco Preciado. Contact cnabuddysupport@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.

Accounts and guest use

Current iPhone app versions and the website require Apple or Google sign-in. Older versions may allow guest use; those guest records stay on the device until you choose to keep eligible records when signing in. Firebase Authentication and your sign-in provider process your account identifier, email or Apple private-relay address, available profile information, authentication tokens, and technical connection information. Firebase may process SDK and device diagnostics to maintain its service. We do not receive your Apple or Google password. Local journal files and preferences are separated by account.

Automatic syncing in current versions

When signed in, supported versions automatically sync training-hour entries, skill-practice logs, completed quiz results, required school-hour goals, CEU course records, certification-period dates, and study-note titles, text, and optional note categories through Google Firebase in the United States. Use the same MyCNAPal account on the app and website. Changes made offline are queued and sent when a connection is available. Signing out stops syncing on that device but does not delete existing cloud records. The operator can administer Firebase account and stored service records to operate and support the service.

What stays on your device or browser

Work shifts, unfinished quiz attempts, rehearsal checkmarks, and preferences not listed above do not sync between the app and website. Completed quiz answer reviews may differ across platforms; the synced result does not recreate an unfinished attempt. App setup status and agreement receipts are stored locally. Apple device backups may include app data under your settings. Anyone using your device or browser profile may be able to see local records. Browser cleanup or deleting the app may remove local-only data.

Study notes

Supported updated app and website versions share study-note titles, text, and optional note categories through the same account. Use notes for learning and fictional examples only. Notes are stored in account-separated Firebase records in the United States and are not sent to usage analytics. Offline edits upload when connected, and conflicting versions can be preserved separately.

Older app versions

Older App Store versions may store records only on the device or provide an optional sync setting with fewer supported record types. Their capabilities differ from current versions. Updating does not rewrite a previously saved agreement receipt or automatically import guest records. When offered, Keep My Existing Records moves eligible older local records into the signed-in account; supported categories can then sync.

Membership and payments

Apple handles App Store purchases; Stripe hosts website checkout and billing management. MyCNAPal stores subscription identifiers, status, expiration and purchase-ownership information to verify access across supported platforms. New app purchases include an opaque account identifier. Payment-card details are handled by Apple or Stripe and are not stored in study records. These providers retain payment information under their own policies. Deleting app data does not cancel a subscription.

Audio and transcripts

Firebase Cloud Storage delivers paid lessons after membership verification through temporary access links. The iPhone app downloads lessons for offline playback. The website streams audio over an internet connection and lets listeners download transcripts. We do not store an account-linked listening history; optional analytics can include fixed lesson identifiers. Downloaded transcripts, exported records and files shared to destinations you choose are outside the app’s storage protection.

Deletion and your choices

You can delete individual supported entries; deletion markers sync to other connected devices. More → Settings → Your Records provides exports. Delete My Data removes local records and pauses local sync; it does not erase cloud records, exported files, device backups, or support messages. Use Account → Delete Account for cloud account deletion. Account deletion removes cloud study records and stops website subscription billing. Apple subscriptions must be canceled separately with Apple. Limited deletion and purchase-ownership markers remain to prevent deleted records from returning or purchases being claimed by another account. Copies on offline devices, backups and exports may remain until you erase them.

Support

If you submit the in-app contact form, it sends your message, supplied reply email, category and app version through Formspree to support. Formspree also processes connection information. No journal records are attached automatically. Email support is processed by your email provider and the support mailbox. We use support messages to respond and troubleshoot and retain them while needed for those purposes or applicable obligations. Contact us to request deletion of messages we control. Copies held by providers, recipients or backups may remain.

Patient information and optional analytics

MyCNAPal is for education and personal training records, not patient charting. Do not enter or send patient names, birth dates, room numbers, medical-record numbers or identifying medical information. No advertising SDK is enabled. The upcoming app update includes Google Analytics, on by default. Turn off Help Improve MyCNAPal in More → Settings → Preferences at any time. The website also enables usage analytics by default unless you previously turned it off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. You can turn it off under More → Settings → Preferences → Help Improve MyCNAPal. Analytics measures feature use, quiz starts/completions, audio lesson identifiers and checkout starts, plus technical information such as app/browser version and approximate region. We do not set an account user ID or send names, emails, study records, answers, clinical values or notes. Advertising features are disabled. Turning analytics off stops collection; the app resets its analytics identifier and the website removes its analytics cookies. Previously processed events are not removed. See the web privacy notice for browser details. Older app versions do not include this analytics feature. Hosting and authentication services still process technical information to deliver and secure the service.

Website and external services

Firebase Hosting processes technical connection information, including IP addresses and request information. External reference links have their own privacy practices. See the web privacy notice for browser-specific details. Provider policies: Apple, Google, Firebase, Stripe, and Formspree.

Children and changes

MyCNAPal is intended for CNA students and is not directed to children under 13. Do not send information about a child through support. We update this notice as the service changes. A saved in-app agreement receipt records the notice accepted at that time; it is not silently replaced by this updated text.

Free YouTube skill videos

Study includes free nursing-assistant demonstration videos from WisTech Open / Open RN through YouTube’s embedded player. No subscription is required. The player connects to Google/YouTube and may process device, connection and playback information, use cookies or similar storage, and display YouTube-served ads. MyCNAPal does not send your study records to the player. Internet access is required and videos may become unavailable. By using the player, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service; see the Google Privacy Policy. MyCNAPal is independent of WisTech Open / Open RN.
